Valentine's Day has an impact on workplace performance

Valentine's day flirting is a distraction and has a negative impact on performance in the opinion of 41% of HR professionals surveyed.
A further 27% see the office flirtation as being a morale booster with a positive effect on the work environment.

When it comes to romantic relationships in the office - 41% support these relationships, while 32% feel they have a negative impact on work life. Unsurprisingly, 59% report that their companies don't have a policy on relationships at work. And yet, 14% of companies still make it a ruling that romantic relationships at work are unacceptable.

When it comes to receiving tokens of admiration, HR professionals are overwhelmingly in favour of anonymous Valentine's gifts.
Altogether, 73% would be pleased - with 64% feeling flattered, and 9% loving the attention.
Only 28% feel it would be unwelcome - with 5% saying they would feel embarrassed, 9% feel uncomfortable with not knowing who had sent it and 14% think it is inappropriate for the office.

Revealing an adventurous streak, 36% of respondents want a surprise on Valentine's day. 32% want the whole romantic experience of a weekend away and 23% are happy with a romantic meal for two.
